Notices served on Mussoorie Mall Road encroachers

Mussoorie, 21 Nov: Taking a strict stand on roadside encroachment along the Mall Road, here, SDM Varun Chaudhary undertook an inspection today. He instructed the shopkeepers to remove the encroachments ith immediate effect. Notices were served on 109 shopkeepers under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for unauthorised occupation of the roadside and were instructed to be present at the Court of SDM Mussoorie and also to give reasons why action should not be taken against them.
SDM Varun Chaudhary said that Mussoorie is a tourist destination and everybody liked to enjoy the town on foot to enjoy the beauty and environment, but some shopkeepers had encroached on the Mall Road by placing their goods on the road side. Due to this, pedestrians had to face problems and many times, traffic jams were also caused. He said instructions had been given to many shopkeepers to remove every kind of encroachment. The street vendors on the Mall Road had also been instructed to remain behind the yellow line. Any shopkeeper or street vendor found violating the rules and encroaching on the road would face strict action. It was the responsibility of everyone to keep Mussoorie beautiful and clean. He added that the inspection would continue on daily basis. Police officials as well as the Naib Tehsildar Puran Singh Tomar were present on the occasion.
