DEHRADUN, 23 Apr: District Magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava has stated that permission for work in offices, workshops, factories and other establishments during the period of lockdown would be granted subject to conditions that social distancing and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are strictly adhered to. He also clarified that school book shops and electric fan repair shops would not be allowed to be open in the municipal limits of Dehradun, but would be permitted to sell their through home delivery only, to ensure prevention of Corona infection spread.
In other areas of the district, school book shops and electric fan repair shops would be permitted to open during the relaxed timing of 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., but the shop owners would have to obtain prior permission from the City Magistrate or SDM on a mandatory basis in order to open shops. He also reminded that several priority based construction projects of the Union Government and the state government had also been permitted to start but the workers engaged in these projects would have to remain in the under construction area and would not be permitted to move from one place to another. They would have to adhere to SOPs on social distancing etc.
The permission for construction work being undertaken as part of Central and the State Government projects has come after the directions in this regard were issued by Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash this morning. He had asked all the district magistrates to allow construction work on government projects but subject to the safety related SOPs.
Services provided by self-employed persons like electricians, computer and related equipment technicians, plumbers, motor bike mechanics and carpenters would be permitted to work during the relaxed hours but they would not be permitted in the containment areas like Bhagat Singh Colony, Kargi Grant, Muslim Colony, Azad Colony, Jhabarwala and Keshavpuri Basti. These persons would have to get permission from the nearest Police Stations in order to work.
