Budget Session

By Our Staff Reporter

Dehradun, 29 Feb: During the discussion on the budget on the fourth day of the session, today, Leader of the Opposition, Yashpal Arya informed the House that a suspicious case of rape and murder had happened in Race Course in Dehradun this morning. Arya and other members of the Opposition alleged complete collapse of the law and order situation in the state.

Later, raising the issue again during the budget discussion, Arya alleged that law and order was not in control of the government even in the capital city of Dehradun. Recovery of the dead body of a 15 year old girl in Race Course, today, was ample evidence to prove that the government and the police were unable to curb crime. The Opposition members also claimed that, although the suspected murderer and rapist had surrendered to the Police, the girl’s family was informed about the crime only several hours after the recovery of the body.

The Opposition members created a ruckus in the House over the issue of law and order and also staged a walk out. However, they soon returned to the House.

The Speaker assured the members that a detailed report on the incident would be made available.
