Dehradun, 30 Jul: Led by Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, residents of the Patel Nagar area met SP-City Pramod Kumar today to protest against the growing menace of smack addiction.
The delegation expressed strong resentment over the recent attack on a youth by a smack supplier in Patel Nagar three days ago and demanded strict action. Minister Makwana questioned the intent of the police, stating that despite complaints being lodged at the Patel Nagar police outpost, no action was taken.
He said that drug addiction is destroying the younger generation and that drug peddlers are increasing in almost every locality. “Whenever residents file complaints about drug sales, suppliers issue death threats without fear,” he added, urging the police to take prompt and decisive action against smugglers.
SP City Pramod Kumar assured the delegation of strict action.
Those present during the meeting included former councillor Govind Mohan, All India Safai Mazdoor Sangh in-charge Vishal Bidla, Patel Nagar Valmiki Basti head Vinod Mahrauliya, National Valmiki Krantikari Yuva Morcha state president Rajiv Rajouri, state media in-charge Vinod Ghaghat, Morcha state vice-president Anika Kshetri, state general secretary Sanyam Kumar, and state vice-president Vikram Tank.
