DM Savin Bansal conducts surprise Inspection of Nagar Nigam sanitation system

Dehradun, 11 Oct: District Magistrate Savin Bansal conducted a surprise inspection of the Dehradun Nagar Nigam’s sanitation system at 6 a.m this morning. Before that, at 5 a.m, he suddenly rang up senior officials of Nagar Nigam and directed them to reach the Nagar Nigam premises. During the inspection, the workshops of M/s ECON and Water Grace Company were inspected first, where 14 vehicles were found parked. Subsequently, around 7 a.m, he also conducted a surprise inspection of ECON and Water Grace Company’s parking near IT Park, where 18 vehicles meant for door-to-door collection were found parked. Out of these, 8 vehicles were found to be broken down in the parking and workshop, while 24 vehicles were found parked at the parking site instead of being present in the wards by 7 a.m as per previous instructions. Expressing strong displeasure, the DM directed the officials to levy a fine of Rs 60,000 on ECON and Water Grace Companies for inadequate door-to-door vehicle operation and not sending vehicles to the wards on time.

Later, Bansal also conducted a surprise inspection of various Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVP) in the city. A significant amount of garbage was found at Bhagat Singh Colony GVP Point, while at Saraswati Vihar Bypass Road GVP, he expressed strong displeasure over the pickup of garbage from the GVP Point by small door-to-door vehicles of Sunlight Company. A fine of Rs 25,000 has been levied on Sunlight Company.

After this, the District Magistrate conducted a surprise inspection of the Kargi Solid Waste Transfer Centre. During the inspection, excessive garbage accumulation and lack of cleanliness were seen, in addition to non-compliance with prescribed standards for garbage transfer. A fine of Rs 75,000 was levied on all three companies. Additional Municipal Commissioner Veer Singh Budiyal, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal, Senior Sanitation Inspector Rajesh Bahuguna, and Rajesh Pawar were also present on the occasion.
