DEHRADUN, 26 May: The trustees of ‘People For Animals Uttarakhand’ visited the ‘Happy Homes Sanctuary’ at Chharba, near Vikasnagar, on Sunday. ‘People For Animals Uttarakhand’ is an organisation dedicated to bringing about systemic changes in animal welfare across the state. Their efforts include campaigning against animal sacrifice, advocating for better street animal management and wildlife conservation, as well as improving systems and procedures for animal protection.
The organisation operates the ‘Happy Homes Sanctuary’ in Chharba, a state-of-the-art facility that provides a safe haven for abused, injured, and sick horses, donkeys, and mules. These animals receive lifetime care, expert veterinary attention, and live in a no-cage, no-tie environment, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
The visiting trustees, including Advocate Siddharth Luthra, Advocatw Manu Sabharwal, Dr Anjali Nauriyal, and Gauri Maulekhi, discussed the organisation’s ongoing activities and future plans for the sanctuary. The ‘Happy Homes Sanctuary’ welcomes animals from Dehradun and its surrounding areas, as well as from Haridwar, Haldwani, Uttarkashi, and Chamoli districts.
Additionally, ‘People For Animals Uttarakhand’ runs the only equine infirmary in Rudraprayag, with the support of the District Administration. This facility plays a crucial role in providing medical care and rehabilitation for abused, injured or sick equines in and around the area.
