PHD Angel Club UK initiates 1st Investment

DEHRADUN, 16 Dec: PHD Angels’ Club, Uttarakhand, at a programme organised, here, in collaboration with German partner Konrad Adenauer Stiftung on Saturday, began its functioning by committing Rs 25 lakhs to a Start Up company, M/s ADCOUNT Technologies, which has been co-founded by an IIT engineer, Kushang. This is a B2B brand ADURCUP providing innovative tech driven and AI enabled solutions to the restaurant value chain.
The Director of PHD Chamber, Anil Taneja, said that the consortium of Angels’ Club chaired by Verendra Kalra (CA), who is also Chairman of Uttarakhand State Chapter of PHD Chamber, committed an investment, which included Rs 3 Lakhs from Kalra, himself. Dr Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, one of the founding fathers of the Start Up Eco system in India, came to the programme for a master class session. His company, Venture Catalysts, along with partner Neeraj Tyagi committed an investment of Rs 15 lakhs to this Start Up. PHD Chamber and Venture catalysts have partnered in the state for the promotion of the Start UP Eco system in the state.
The PHD Chamber has plans to conduct a series of unique entrepreneurship development programmes in the state to bring forth the local and national enterprise investment opportunities to the doorsteps of the Uttarakhand Start Up Eco system. These mostly innovation and technology driven opportunities have the potential of relatively very high value returns.
Nitesh Kaushik, who is co-Chairman of the Start Up Task Force of PHD Chamber in the state is working closely with the local start ups which are registered with Uttarakhand State Chapter of PHD Chamber. The Start Up task force is counselling, mentoring, incubating and providing networking opportunities to these start ups.
According to Kalra, India is a growing ecosystem for new entrepreneurs and Uttarakhand being one of the top ranking states on literacy parameters, backed by the presence of a number of educational institutions is a very promising state for Start Up Eco system to grow. Dr Apoorva Ranjan Sharma stated that the country’s Start Up eco system stands tall with the top five ecosystems in the world. Anil Taneja stated that tech driven entrepreneurs backed by demographic dividend of the country provided a unique global standing for entrepreneurial endeavours. He stated that the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry – State Chapter of Uttarakhand had championed the Start Up Eco System development process in the state and was organising a series of programmes for creating an enabling environment. The panel of speakers included Mentor Chairman of PHD Chamber Uttarakhand, SP Kochhar, Tushar Agarwal, who is Block Chain Technology expert operating from Singapore, but hails from Dehradun, and Dr Ajit Nigam, Co-Chairman for the PHD Start Up Task Force (Angels Club). Dr Nigam addressed the Start Ups that participated.
