Pilgrims caught in traffic jams provided water, food packets

Rudraprayag, 17 May: The Rudraprayag District Administration today claimed that 2500 food packets and water bottles were distributed by the district administration to the passengers stuck in a jam on Kedarnath Yatra route today.

The district administration further stated that there is a huge influx of pilgrims at Kedarnath Dham, devotees are coming in large numbers to have darshan of Lord Kedarnath for which arrangements are being strengthened by the district administration and police administration.

The state government and the district administration are continuously claiming to be making adequate efforts to ensure smooth, well-organised and safe journey of the devotees arriving for the Chardham Yatra.

The portals of Lord Kedarnath were opened on 10 May for the devotees from India and abroad and since the opening of the doors till now, devotees have been coming in large numbers to Kedarnath Dham. In the first week itself, 1.83 lakh devotees have visited Baba Kedarnath in Kedarnath Dham, which is a new record. As of today, more than 2 lakh pilgrims have visited the Dham. Due to the large number of devotees coming for darshan, there is a traffic jam at various places on the Yatra route, for which the teams of the district administration and the police department are claiming to be engaged in strengthening the arrangements.

The district administration further claimed that as per the direction of the District Magistrate, necessary materials are being provided to the pilgrims who are stuck in the traffic while coming for darshan. Today, on behalf of the district administration, District Supply Officer Manoj Kumar Doval and Sector Officer Fata Narendra Kumar and his team distributed food packets and water bottles to the pilgrims in their vehicles.
