“Plan visit to U’khand after checking Local Weather Information”

Dehradun, 17 Jun: The weather is expected to change in the coming four days in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in many districts including the Char Dham route. In light of this forecast, the Tourism Department has advised pilgrims and tourists to plan their visits to Uttarakhand only after registering and obtaining full information about the weather and routes from the toll-free number operated by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB).

Tourists can also check for the weather updates on the official website of the Meteorological Department. Pilgrims are also advised to carry woollens, an umbrella, raincoat, waterproof trekking shoes, walking stick, cap, and gloves with them during the journey.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder in most places on 17 and 18 June. While, in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts, there is a possibility of heavy rain in some places. On 19 June, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. On 20 and 21 June, heavy showers are expected in isolated places in the districts of the state. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain at many places in the districts of Kumaon division and some places in the districts of Garhwal division. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for light landslides, rock fall, road closure, and water-rising in rivers and streams in the districts prone to heavy rains.

Tourists are hence advised to be updated on information about the weather and routes before coming to Uttarakhand to avoid any inconvenient situation.
