Portals of Badrinath open for season after due rituals

Chamoli, 27 Apr: The portals of Lord Badrinath Temple opened for the fresh Yatra season this morning after due rituals and amid chants of divine Mantras in the presence of thousands of devotees. The portals opened at the scheduled time 7:10 am which is considered to be an auspicious hour. On this occasion, the first puja was performed in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was raining and snowing lightly in Badrinath when the portals were being opened.
Thousands of devotees were present to witness the opening of the portals. The process of opening the portals started from 4 am today. Idols/Dolis of Lord Kuber, Lord Uddav and Gadu Ghada were brought inside the premises of the temple from the southern gate. After this, the portals of the temple were opened in the presence of senior government officials and thousands of devotees by Dharmadhikari, Hakhakudhari and officials of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee including the chief priest of the temple Rawal. Chief Priest Ishwar Prasad Namboodiri wished everyone auspiciousness while offering special prayers to Lord Badrinath in the sanctum sanctorum. The first puja was done in the name of Prime Minister Modi. With this, the darshans of Badrinath have begun for the summer season. On this occasion, the Badrinath temple was decorated with 15 quintals of flowers.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his best wishes to all the devotees on the auspicious occasion of opening of the portals. The Chief Minister said that the state government has made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Chardham Yatra.
In the midst of light snowfall and rain, and the melodious music of the army band and in the midst of divine chants in praise of Lord Badrinath, the portals were opened for the public. As per the instructions given by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on this occasion the devotees were showered with flowers from a chopper to welcome them. A day before the opening of the portals, a large crowd of devotees had started gathering in Badrinath Dham. On the very first day, thousands of devotees earned blessings of Lord Badrinath by having darshan of Akhand Jyoti and Lord Badrinath. With the opening of the portals of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, the Chardham Yatra has been launched at full scale now.
President of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee Ajendra Ajay, District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana, Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal, CDO Dr Lalit Narayan Mishra, ADM Dr Abhishek Tripathi, Chief Executive Officer of BKTC Yogendra Singh, Vice President Kishore Panwar, Dharmadhikari Radhakrishna were among those present on the occasion of the opening of the portals.
With the opening of the portals of the Badrinath Temple, crowds of devotees and tourists have also started gathering at places like Taptakund, Narad Kund, Shesh Netra Lake, Neelkanth Shikhar, Urvashi Temple, Brahma Kapal, Mata Murti Temple and the country’s first village Mana, Bhimpul, Vasudhara Falls and other historic places around Bhu-Baikunth Dham.
Whereas in the last year, 17,63,549 devotees reached Badrinath Dham, this time a large number of devotees are reaching Badrinath with record registration in the beginning itself.
