Portals of Hemkund Sahib to open on 20 May

Dehradun, 5 Apr: The portals of Hemkund Sahib, will be opened for devotees on 20 May this year. This has been stated by Chairman of the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, Narendrajit Singh Bindra. Bindra today called on Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu at the Secretariat in this regard.

Later in a statement, Bindra announced that, in the meeting of the Hemkund Sahib Management Committee, it has been decided to open the portals of Hemkund Sahib for the devotees for the 2023 season on 20 May.

Bindra met Chief Secretary SS Sandhu and it was decided that the Hemkund Yatra would be started from 20 May by the Gurdwara Trust in collaboration with the State Government.

It may be recalled that the Char Dham Yatra begins this year on 22 April. The portals of Hemkund Sahib usually open after the Char Dham Yatra in view of the heavy snow in Hemkund Sabib.

Bindra added that the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust is engaged in preparations to facilitate the journey of pilgrims coming from the country and the world to the Gurdwara. The committee expressed hope that, like in the past, the pilgrims to Hemkund Sahib would visiting in lakhs this year also and even create a new record.

Bindra added that the Committee has, with the help of and in coordination with the state government, constructed night shelters and Langars at various places along the Yatra route to facilitate the pilgrims and the preparations are almost complete. Bindra appealed to the pilgrims coming to Hemkund Sahib and the Char Dham shrines to comply with the requirements of the government and the guidelines issued in this respect.
