Dehradun, 7 Feb: Famous Santoor player and Padma Shri awardee Pt Satish Vyas gave a performance at the Graphic Era University Silver Jubilee Convention Centre, here, today.
He began the performance by playing shudh raga on Santoor. Tabla player Amit Kavthekar ably supported him. The artistes enthralled the audience and garnered a lot of applause.
On this occasion, Pt Vyas said that the Santoor, known as Yathatantra Veena in ancient times, has evolved from the picturesque valleys of Kashmir and become an integral part of Hindustani Classical music. He briefly explained the importance of Santoor in classical music.
