Mussoorie, 15 Dec: The successful trial of golf cart operation was conducted on the Mall Road here, today. Rickshaw drivers were also given training on operating the golf carts.
On this occasion, former BJP Mandal President Mohan Petwal and Meera Saklani along with BJP workers and local people also enjoyed rides on the golf carts. Petwal said that to have the Mall Road provide better facilities to tourists, golf carts are to be operated. Four golf carts are to be operated in the first phase.
Rickshaw drivers are to operate the golf carts, for which the administration is giving training to them. Golf carts were operated by rickshaw drivers on Mall Road today with success. Tourists from all over the country and abroad come to Mussoorie and the government has spent Rs 7 crores with the help of Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi to improve the Mall Road.
BJP leader Meera Saklani said that the government is constantly working to provide better facilities to tourists in Mussoorie. After its successful initiation on the Mall Road, golf cart service will be provided at other places in Mussoorie.
Mussoorie Mazdoor Sangh President Ranjeet Chauhan said that all the rickshaw drivers are excited about the operation of golf carts. The government should give compensation of Rs 10 lakh to those drivers who want to quit the profession. On this occasion, many people including city Congress President Amit Gupta, Arvind Semwal, Gaurav Gupta, Khemanand Bhat were also present.
