Dehradun, 8 Jul: Secretary to Chief Minister Shailesh Bagoli today reached the State Emergency Operations Centre located at Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) and sought detailed information about the preparations for the monsoon. He also reviewed the arrangements at the control room.
Bagoli reached USDMA Bhawan located at IT Park this morning and sought detailed information from the officials about the arrangements for monsoon in the control room. He also sought information from the experts of USDMA about how information and alerts are forwarded in the control room. He took updates from the experts about how the weather is being monitored from the control room and how the general public is being alerted.
Bagoli also asked the officials about the current situation of the districts regarding the heavy to very heavy rain alert in the state issued by the Meteorological Department. He also sought details of the deployment of nodal officers of various departments in the control room. He observed that the role of the State Emergency Operations Centre is very important in dealing with disasters, making people aware and providing immediate assistance.
Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman said that the State Emergency Operations Centre is working 24×7. The situation in the entire state is being continuously monitored from the control room in view of the monsoon. Taking immediate action on the calls of the general public in the control room, the problems are being resolved at the level of the DMMO concerned. Suman said that in case of any problem due to rain, the general public can register their problems by calling 1077 and 1070. The problem will be resolved immediately at the level of the departments concerned. On this occasion, Duty Officer Alok Kumar Singh, SEOC‘s day in-charge Dr Pooja Rana, various subject experts of USDMA and nodal officers of various departments were present.
In addition, USDMA’s Additional Chief Executive Officer Implementation Rajkumar Negi today held a meeting with the nodal officers and issued necessary instructions regarding operations. He said that information is being sought from the disaster management officers of various districts every moment. In the control room, every situation is being monitored through police wireless, forest wireless and nodal officers of various departments. The control room is operational 24 hours a day and 7 days a week and nodal officers are deployed at all times. He informed that a satellite phone is also installed in the control room and in special circumstances communication will be done through it as well.
