DEHRADUN,17 May: After the arrest of ISBT chowki in-charge the Vigilance team recovered Rs 3.5 lakh in cash from his cupboard at the ISBT post. The team also took some documents into their possession. The Vigilance court already sent him to judicial custody.
The Vigilance team arrested ISBT Police Post in-charge, Sub-Inspector Devendra Khugshal of Patel Nagar Police Station, red-handed while accepting a bribe of one lakh rupees. Following his arrest, The cash was found when the team searched his cupboard after taking him into custody.
According to the information, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the cash, leading the Vigilance team to seize it. The incident came to light on Wednesday, when he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from three individuals, after threatening to implicate them under the Gangster Act in a land dispute.
He had initially demanded a total bribe of Rs 5 lakh in exchange for removing their names from the case, of which he had taken an advance of Rs. 1 lakh on Wednesday.
