Rs 720 crores sanctioned for Dehradun-Haridwar Highway upgrade, Govt informs Bhatt

NEW DELHI, 4 Dec: The Union Government has announced major good news regarding the improvement process for the Haridwar-Dehradun National Highway. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs 720 crore for this project, which is scheduled to be completed within the next two-and-a-half years.
It may be noted here that State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt had sought information in the Rajya Sabha under Question No. 324 regarding the incomplete works on NH-7 and NH-34 at Lal Tappar and Motichur, respectively. It is pertinent to note that vehicles travelling between Haridwar-Dehradun and Haridwar-Rishikesh were facing difficulties due to the unfinished construction. Considering the problems faced by the locals, Mahendra Bhatt had raised the issue in the House.
Responding to the query of the MP, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari informed he House that the work for the improvement of the Dehradun–Lal Tappar–Nepali Farm section of National Highway-7 and the Nepali Farm–Motichur section of National Highway-34 has been awarded. The contract agreement for this has been signed on November 18 last month. An amount of Rs 720.67 crore has been sanctioned for the implementation of this entire project. The Centre has set the construction period for this project at 2.5 years from the appointed date.
