Sankalp Society launches Plant Nursery for children

Dehradun, 24 Aug: Sankalp Shikshan Evam Kalyan Samiti inaugurated a Plant Nursery in Sunderwala on 23 August. The nursery was inaugurated by Junior High School, Sunderwala, Headmistress Kaushalya Rana.

Space for the nursery has been provided by Sankalp President Ravi Singh Negi. On this occasion many students from JHS Sunderwala were present. General Secretary of Sankalp, Anita Negi showed about 40 medicinal plants in the nursery and its surroundings to the children. She also explained the benefits of these medicinal plants, which included cinnamon, camphor, all spices, bay leaves, cardamom, clove, betel leaves, black pepper, rudraksh, lemon grass and many other plants.

Sankalp Secretary Rajiv Panwar explained gardening skills to the children. Besides gardening, students were also educated in the minimal use of plastic and showed them how to develop plants in used plastic glasses and their reuse. The event was organised by Ashokvardhan Singh.

Sankalp President Ravi Singh Negi stated that the purpose of this nursery is to bring children close to nature and help them save and keep the environment green. The nursery is open only for government schoolchildren.

Besides the students, Rajiv Panwar, Manoj Kapoor, Kaushalya Rana, Puran Singh Negi. Pradeep Kukreti, Urmila Uniyal, etc., were also present.
