Dehradun, 24 Apr: After the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, police across the country are on high alert. To maintain peace in Dehradun, the police have tightened the security of Kashmiri students in the city. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against a group for spreading hate speech related to the incident.
In this case, SSP Ajai Singh said that strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to harass Kashmiri students. He also ordered police officers to stay in touch with Kashmiri students living and studying in the city and ensure their safety.
According to the information, around 1200 Kashmiri students are studying in various institutions across Dehradun. Their details have already been verified by the police.
On Thursday, the SSP held a meeting at the Bidholi police post with college authorities and PG owners where these students stay. In the meeting, they were given clear guidelines to make sure students feel safe and protected.
Additional police force has been deployed near hostels and PGs where Kashmiri students live. Police are also patrolling these areas regularly. Along with this, Dehradun Police is keeping a close watch on social media. So far, 25 objectionable posts have been removed, and a case has been registered against a group for spreading hate speech.
The police have also appealed to Kashmiri students not to post anything on social media that could disturb peace. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has also advised students to stay indoors unless necessary and avoid commenting on the Pahalgam incident online.
