Several villages in Tehri district threaten to boycott elections

MUSSOORIE, 20 Mar: People from dozen villages in Tehri district, have threatened to boycott the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, if basic amenities, particularly the construction of roads is not done in their area. The villagers held a protest against the state government raising high-pitched slogans. The villagers also sent a memorandum, with five demands, for the development of the area, to CM TS Rawat.
The villagers from Gram Sartali, Kasson Ghandiala, Kanda Pali, Kuna, Kandriyan, Timliyale and Radnogi under Nayay Panchayat Kempty, said that if no development comes to their area then no votes will be cast. They said that after the formation of Uttarakhand many governments came into power, but none paid any attention to the problems of the area, due to which villagers are facing lots of problems, as due to lack of roads the villagers have to travel a lot to reach the main road. They particularly face problems in transportation of patients, particularly pregnant women to hospitals.
Local villagers Anand Singh Tomar, Rajesh Pundir and Ritesh Rawat said that no action has been taken by the government to provide basic amenities as more then dozen of villages have been overlooked due to which villagers are agitated.
