Dehradun, 4 Sep: Vice Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dr Uday Singh Rawat, met Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, today.
Vice Chancellor Rawat acquainted the Governor with the educational activities and research projects undertaken by Shri Guru Ram Rai University. Vice Chancellor Rawat also gifted copies of books authored by him to the Governor.
On the occasion, Governor Gurmeet Singh said that universities will have to work hard so that the benefits of higher education can reach the economically weaker sections of society. For this, the universities will have to make extraordinary efforts so that all the sections of the society get connected to the mainstream, thereby improving the condition of the weaker sections. Discussing the alarming issue of migration from Uttarakhand hills, he emphasised on promoting reverse migration. He urged the universities to run inspirational programmes on subjects like organic farming and female empowerment.
Vice Chancellor Dr Rawat invited Governor Singh to visit Shri Guru Ram Rai University. The Governor consented to be present at a dialogue programme to be held at SGRR University in the month of November.
