DEHRADUN, 7 Jan: Siya Bajaj has been emerging as a shining martial arts star in the country. A resident of Faridabad, Haryana, and a student of MVN Aravali Hills School, Faridabad, Siya has made significant achievement the self defence sports. Her grandparents belong to Dehradun.
Though a primary fighter of Kickboxing, Siya hasn’t restricted herself to that sport alone and has tried her hands in all different formats of Martial Arts, namely Wushu, Karate and Taekwondo. It is important to note that all the fighting sports have very different formats and rules. These challenges haven’t deterred the young fighter from taking up challenges in all these fight formats.
At the tender age of just 11 years, Siya has already bagged 12 medals at the District, State and National Level tournaments. Being trained at the Dragon Martial Arts Academy in Faridabad under coach Sunil Rajput, Siya dedicates 14 hours of rigorous practice every week under the watchful eyes of her coach.
In Kickboxing, her District Level Tournament triumphs have included the Faridabad District Kickboxing Championship, 2017, Gold Medal; and the Faridabad District Kickboxing Championship 2018, Gold Medal.
In State Level Competitions, she got the Silver Medal in the Haryana State Sub Junior Kick Boxing Championship 2016-17, Kurukshetra; the Gold Medal in the 17th Haryana State Kickboxing Championship: 2017-18, Rohtak.
At the National Level, she won a Bronze Medal in the National Kickboxing Championship 2017-18, Patna; and, in the National Kickboxing Championship, 2018-19, Dehradun, she got a Gold Medal in Point Fighting Category, and Silver Medal in Light Contact Category.
In Wushu, she has won a Silver Medal in the Faridabad District Wushu Championship 2015; Gold Medal in the Faridabad District Wushu Championship 2016; and the Gold Medal in the 3rd Faridabad District Wushu Championship held on 6-7 May ’2017.
In Taekwondo, she won a Gold Medal and Best Fighter Award in the 3rd Interschool Girls’ Taekwondo Championship and Self Defence Meet in November 2017. In Karate, she won a Bronze Medal in All India Independence Cup Karate Championship, Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, in 2017.
