DEHRADUN, 19 Dec: Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that social media plays an important role in society. It is a dynamic medium in the field of communication in the current scenario. It needed to be used in public interest and in the wider interest of society. This could be an important medium of effective implementation of schemes related to public interest being run by the central and state government. Efforts had to be made in this direction.
Addressing the concluding session of the social media dialogue organised at the meeting hall of the CM’s official residence on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said the importance of social media needed to be understood. There ought to be a positive follow up on news and events. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked about running a campaign against corruption, drug addiction and synthetic drugs. It could also be a medium to save society from adverse effects. Similarly, the positive initiative taken by the government in the wider interest of society could be brought to the public through it.
He pointed out that, there were currently 5 women governors in the country. There were 3 women judges in the Supreme Court. Objectives like equal opportunities to women in the army, housing for all, Ujjwala, Saubhagaya, All Weather Road, Karnprayag rail line could be incorporated publicised in the wider interests of society.
The Uttarakhand Atal Ayushman Yojana, in which 5.37 lakh people would get healthcare; Uttarakhand becoming the first state in ODF; the award received in PMGSY; the Most Film Friendly Award; Tourism Global Award and availability of NCERT books at concessional rates could also be projected. The art of presenting the real news had to be learned.
Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Ramesh Bhatt presented comprehensive information about the initiatives made through social media by a presentation on the occasion.
BJP State President Ajay Bhatt also expressed his views on the importance of social media.
