Dehradun, 4 Dec: The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, met the Forest Minister, Subodh Uniyal, today, and formally requested the opening of a new jungle safari route in Kotdwar. This proposed route would start from the old Lal Dhang Road, beyond Kanvashram, and pass through Gularjhalla, ultimately reaching the Mehli Source Watch Tower.

Bhushan submitted a formal demand letter to the Forest Minister regarding this request.

She explained that local nature guides and the general public in her constituency, Kotdwar, have been seeking this new safari route for a long time. She emphasised that the opening of this route would lead to an increase in tourist traffic, generating employment opportunities at the local level and promoting tourism. Additionally, this development is expected to boost the local economy and increase government revenue.

She further noted that Kotdwar is known for its natural beauty, biodiversity, and historical heritage. Connecting this new safari route with historical sites like Kanvashram would offer tourists a unique experience. Not only would this initiative support the local tourism industry, but it would also contribute to environmental conservation and encourage the active involvement of local communities.

Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal assured Bhushan that he would take this proposal seriously and promised prompt action. He instructed the officials concerned to take immediate steps in this regard.
