DEHRADUN, 27 Jan: Major Ramanpreet Kaur, the Chief Guest, greeted children with a loud ‘Jai Hind’ as St Patrick’s Academy celebrated the 70th Republic Day with pride and patriotism, here.
After the unfurling of the Tricolour, the Chief Guest was escorted into the auditorium by the School Principal, Bro Joseph, where the children put up a spirited programme. It was a combination of dances and some dare-devil acts, which left the audience hypnotised and awe-struck.
Major Ramanpreet asked the children to develop the characteristics of ‘Nationalism’ in order to become responsible citizens of the country. The programme ended with the rendition of the National Anthem by the school children.
Prior to that, the Kindergarten Children, too, had celebrated the Republic Day on 25 January, at which many of them voiced their understanding of the word, Republic. The school’s efforts to make the children aware of the importance of the day were visible through their sense of responsibility and the will to serve the nation.
