DEHRADUN, 28 Feb: Enthusiastic fever engulfed students of Dolphin Institute at its Annual Week, “Srijan 2019”
The week-long annual programme started on 25 February. There is strong ongoing competition between Agriculture and Forestry departments in the sports championship. The Horticulture Department has also surprised everyone by winning many sport events and reaching the third position with 28 points.
The Forestry Department won in basketball (girls), Kabbadi (Boys), Chess (Girls), Table Tennis (Single-boys), Table Tennis (Doubles boys), Kho Kho (boys) discus throw (Boys), 80 metres race (Boys) and Shot put (Boys) and was runner up in volley ball (boys), Cricket (Boys), 50 metres race (Boys), Discus throw (Girls) and Javelin throw (boys). They have till now scored 42 points.
The Agriculture Department won Volley Ball (Girls), Table Tennis (Double Girls), Table Tennis Single (Girls), Javelin throw (boys) and was runner up in basketball (female), Football (male), Kho Kho (male), Table Tennis (Doubles male), Long Jump (male), Discus throw (male). It has scored till now 32 points.
Vishal Singh from Forestry Department and Roma Malik from Medical Microbiology are among strong contenders for best players. Hemlata from mixed departments and Prashant from Medical Microbiology were among the probables for best athletes. The Volley ball team of mixed departments comprises national level player Abhinav Panwar and zonal level player Shaurya and Anmol. A member of north zone football team, Sajal Sarkar, is playing for the Agriculture department.
An array of good presentations was demonstrated in the inter departmental poster presentation, rangoli, essay competition, mehandi, debate, cartoon designing, face painting, paper art, salad making, extempore, group discussion, quiz, painting, flower decoration, antakshri, mime acting, qawwali, nukkad natak, drama and dancing.
According to NK Joshi, Sports Officer, badminton and tug of war events will be held tomorrow.
The prizes will be distributed for all events on 1 March. Present have been Dr Shailja Pant, Principals Dr Gyanendra Awasthi, Dr Arun Kumar, Director, Dean Vipul Garg, Dr Deptee Warikoo, Dr Beena Joshi Bhatt, Dr Shruti Sharma, heads and students of various departments.
