DEHRADUN, 29 Jan: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran has stated that while the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand is a welcome step, the state also urgently needs strong land lawsJugran emphasised that Uttarakhand, a Himalayan state with thousands of kilometres of land bordering China, is strategically sensitive.
He stressed that, in the absence of a strong land law, thousands of acres of land in Uttarakhand have been purchased by capitalists and wealthy individuals at throw-away prices over the past three decades. This has left the residents of Uttarakhand with a sense of loss. He pointed out that landowners who sold their land are now forced to work as watchmen or cooks on the same land they once owned.
While acknowledging the government’s efforts to establish a strong land law, Jugran expressed concern that public patience is wearing thin. He stressed the urgent need for the implementation of a robust land law to address these issues.
