Students from Kohima on ‘Rashtriya Ekta Yatra’ meet Gov at Raj Bhavan

Dehradun, 7 Feb: Students from Kohima, Nagaland, on a “Rashtriya Ekta Yatra”, met Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, today.

Twenty students along with 4 teachers from Kohima region are participating in the National Unity Yatra under the “Operation Sadbhavna Project”.

These students, courtesy of the 13th Battalion, Assam Rifles, are visiting various institutions located in Dehradun. The purpose of this trip for the children is to provide them a direct experience of the culture, development, technological and economic progress at different places, as well as the opportunity to know these closely for gaining knowledge and career opportunities.

Lt General Singh interacted with all the children and encouraged them to move forward in life. He said that, during the educational trip, they will get to learn many things which will be useful in the future. During the conversation, the Governor inspired the students to uphold national unity, and advised them to contribute actively in nation building. He shared his experiences with the children of when he served in the North-East. He also appreciated the effort being made by the Assam Rifles.
