Lucknow, 25 Jan: Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal participated in the ‘Uttarayani Kauthig 2026’ organised by the Parvatiya Mahaparishad, Lucknow (UP) today. On this occasion, a variety of cultural programmes rooted in the original traditions of Uttarakhand were presented by members of the Uttarakhand diaspora.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Uniyal said that, despite living in different parts of the country and abroad, people from Uttarakhand continue to remain deeply connected with their cultural roots. He said that with unity, mutual coordination and strong cultural consciousness, migrant Uttarakhandis are continuously working towards the preservation and promotion of folk traditions, folk songs, folk dances and the rich cultural heritage of the state, which is highly commendable.
Uniyal stated that the state government has always accorded priority to the interests, dignity and participation of migrant Uttarakhandis. Various schemes and programmes are being implemented for the welfare of the diaspora, and constant dialogue is being maintained with them. He also observed that as a positive outcome of these efforts, many migrant Uttarakhandis are now adopting their ancestral villages and, with the support of the state government, are playing an active role in their revival, development of basic infrastructure and social and economic empowerment.
The cabinet minister congratulated President of Parvatiya Mahaparishad, Lucknow, Ganesh Chandra Joshi, General Secretary Mahendra Singh Rawat and all office-bearers and members of the committee for the successful organisation of the programme. He said that such cultural events not only strengthen the distinct identity of Uttarakhand but also serve as a powerful medium to connect the younger generation with their roots.
