Tourism Minister launches Himalaya Darshan service in Mussoorie

Mussoorie 3 Oct:  Tourism Minister, Satpal Maharaj launched Himalaya Darshan chopper service in Mussoorie today. Speaking on this occasion, he observed that tourists would now be able to get a glimpse of the Himalayas sitting on a helicopter from the world famous George Everest, in Mussoorie.
Maharaj said that there was immense potential for tourism on this holy land of George Everest. The great surveyor had discovered Mount Everest. Keeping this in mind, Himalaya Darshan service has been started from Mussoorie to promote tourism in Uttarakhand. Now common tourists would also be able to use this service from George Everest. Through this service, tourists would now be able to enjoy the views of high peaks of the Himalayas and the natural beauty of Uttarakhand from the chopper, which would be flying from George Everest.
Maharaj said that after the start of this service, tourists who wish to visit the Himalayas would be motivated even more to come here in more and more numbers. As a result, people would get employment at the local level and the state economy would also be strengthened. He informed that a museum was being built by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department in the memory of the great surveyor, George Everest, in Mussoorie. Apart from this, idols of late Pandit Nain Singh Rawat and Radhanath Sikdar, the pioneers of Indian cartography, were also being installed here.
The Tourism Minister said that a very attractive photography and videography competition has been started for the tourism lovers on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Under this, photos and videos were being invited online in five different categories. Through this competition, prizes worth more than Rs 25 lakh will be given to tourism lovers.
