Dehradun, 12 Sep: Uttarakhand Traffic Directorate is planning to set up cloud parking system in the state to effectively reduce traffic jams in the cities and in various tourist destinations in the state. The Directorate has claimed that in addition to improving the traffic system in the city, it will also open employment opportunities for the people.
It may be reminded here that Cloud-Based Parking Management involves using cloud (Internet based) technology to manage and automate parking operations. It integrates with parking hardware like sensors, cameras, and meters to provide real-time data on parking availability, occupancy, and revenue. This system allows parking operators to manage everything from a centralised platform, making the process more efficient and user-friendly.
With the number of tourists is increasing every year at the main tourist destinations of Uttarakhand like Mussoorie, Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Nainital, the traffic directorate is expecting a major relief from traffic jams through efficient management of parking through cloud parking management.
The Traffic Directorate is preparing a plan for cloud parking in the state. For this, first of all, data of big cities is being collected about how many vehicles come there during the peak season and off seasons. Parking arrangements will be made according to this. It is being informed that this work will be handed over to an outsourced company.
Under cloud parking, if any tourist reaches near the tourist spot in his car, then he will get a driver there, whose job will be to park the vehicle at another place. The local administration will make arrangements to take the tourist from that place to their destination or hotel. When the tourist will need his vehicle back, he will get the vehicle at the place where he needs it. This scheme will be first initiated in tourist places like Mussoorie and Nainital. Because traffic jam is the biggest problem in both these cities and most of the tourists come here from outside states. Hotel operators have also welcomed the cloud parking scheme. While this scheme will solve the problem of parking on the roads, this scheme will also provide employment to the youth. Also, tourists will not have to roam around for parking, which will also get rid of the problems of jam.
