KOTDWAR, 6 Oct: Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan inaugurated two tubewells and related works under the drinking water scheme for the Bhawar region of the Kotdwar constituency. The tubewells include those at Kanvashram and Mavakot Kotla. The construction of these tubewells will alleviate water issues for areas such as Uday Ram Pur, Kishan Pur, Haldhukata, Kalalghati, and Balaganj.
The Speaker noted that four tubewell projects—Devarampur, Shrirampur, Ram Pur, and Luthapur—had previously been launched to address the drinking water problems in the Bhawar region. The inauguration of these water supply projects will take place soon. Additionally, under the World Bank plan, work is underway for the extension and strengthening of drinking water facilities from Ward No. 04 to Ward No. 36 of the old municipality.
Khanduri stated that the increasing population density in both urban and Bhawar areas leads to a continuous water crisis during the summer months. Once these water supply projects are completed, residents of Kotdwar will benefit significantly from the resolved water issues.
The Speaker also directed officials of the water department to complete all drinking water projects within the stipulated timeframe.
Present at the tubewell inauguration were Kamal Negi, Manish Bhatt (former councillor), Mahashwari Devi, Rajiv Dabaral, Vikas Verma, Anil God, Jitendra Dobriyal (Executive Engineer of the Water Department), Abhishek Verma (Assistant Engineer), and Brijmohan Rawat, among others.
