‘Turban Day’ celebrated in Mussoorie By Sunil Sonker

Mussoorie, 17 Apr: Like every year, this year also the Sikh ceremony on Dastar (Turban) Day was celebrated, here, with full gusto.
On the occasion, the youngsters enthusiastically also took selfies while tying a turban. More than 300 youths were taught how to tie a turban properly under the banner of Khalsa Aid Turban Up at Gandhi Chowk, here. Youths, tourists and local people tied turbans. It was stated on the occasion that no one should be unaware of his or her culture. The youth were asked to be aware of their history.
Local Tanmeet Khalsa said that Turban Day is celebrated by Khalsa Aid Turban Up. On this occasion, apart from Sikhs, tourists along with local people also tied turbans. They felt pride on being associated with the Sikh turban.
It was recalled that on 13 April, 1699, the tenth Guru Govind Singh founded the Khalsa Panth.
Among those present at today’s event were Jagpreet Singh, Karan Singh, Harjot Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Amarjeet Singh and others.
