U’chal University celebrates Forensic Science Day with ‘PRAMANAM’

Dehradun, 29 Sep: The School of Applied and Life Sciences at Uttaranchal University celebrated Forensic Science Day ‘PRAMANAM’, an event showcasing the role of scientific evidence, investigation and forensic expertise in the pursuit of truth and justice.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Ankita Joshi, Vice President, Uttaranchal University; Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Executive Director (SA & IT); Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Uttaranchal University; and Prof. Ajay Singh, Director, School of Applied and Life Sciences, followed by Ganesh Vandana.

The event featured a range of cultural and forensic science-based activities in which students combined academic knowledge with creativity and practical skills. The performances included a skit based on forensic evidence leading to justice, horror dance and indoor-outdoor crime scenes. The highlight of the program was the Fatal Walk in which students of forensic sciences showcased their acts based on various themes associated with different crime investigations and the accused related to these crimes.

The students created three outdoor and two indoor crime scenes near the SALS building, providing participants with an opportunity to demonstrate crime scene observation, evidence identification, documentation and investigative techniques. The activity highlighted the practical and multidisciplinary nature of forensic science.

Vice President Ankita Joshi appreciated the efforts of  participants and encouraged them to develop their professional skills, take initiative and approach forensic science with scientific curiosity and innovation.

The celebration was organised under the guidance of Prof. Ajay Singh, with the support of Prof. Pritesh Vyas, Devesh Tiwari Event Coordinator, Dr Atul Dubey, Rishav Singh, Vani Narula, Monika Bharti and other faculty members and student volunteers played an active role in organising and conducting the programme.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof Pritesh Vyas, who acknowledged the university administration, dignitaries, faculty members, organisers, volunteers and students for their contribution to the event.

About 100 students participated in this event, winners were awarded prizes for their performances. Heeba, as an Arsenic Killer was awarded first prize, while Rashmi as a Psycho Nurse was awarded second prize and Akashi-Shivansh; Naman-Dhruvita were awarded the third prize.
