Dehradun, 29 Aug: The Bharatiya Janata Party today filed a formal police complaint against senior Congress leaders, alleging the use of abusive and derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a public rally held in Darbhanga, Bihar, yesterday. The complaint, submitted at the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Dehradun, demands stringent legal action against well-known leaders present on the stage, including Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav and Mohammad Naushad.

Led by state spokesperson Honey Pathak, a delegation of BJP women workers reached the SSP’s office to register their protest and submit the complaint. They alleged that during the Congress ‘Vote Adhikar Rally’ held on 28 August at Atarbel in Darbhanga, highly offensive language was used from the stage, targeting the Prime Minister and his mother. On this occasion, Honey Pathak stated that a voice identified as belonging to Mohammad Naushad, a Youth Congress leader, was clearly heard making the indecent remarks. She claimed that the same platform was used to repeatedly hurl abuses, and that Rahul Gandhi had previously used disrespectful language against the Prime Minister. She described the incident as the “pinnacle of indecency”, particularly condemning the act of Naushad’s supporters raising vulgar slogans through the stage microphone. The party leaders handed over the complaint to SSP, Dehradun, Ajai Singh.

Referring to a video that has gone viral on social media, Pathak alleged that one of the voices can be distinctly heard saying a phrase she described as deeply offensive and unacceptable in any public discourse. She accused Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav and Mohammad Naushad of orchestrating the incident in a deliberate and systematic manner, stating that the language used was so obscene that it could not be repeated in public. She also claimed that Mohammad Naushad is reportedly a contender for a Congress ticket from the Jale assembly constituency, which makes the incident even more serious.

The BJP, in its official statement issued later, said that the manner in which the Prime Minister was insulted from the stage of a national party, with the involvement of its top leadership, has deeply hurt the sentiments of crores of Indians. The party alleged that the use of extremely indecent language against Prime Minister Modi’s late mother, in what it described as a conspiracy involving Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav and Mohammad Naushad, has crossed all boundaries of political decency and public decorum. “We strongly condemn this pinnacle of indecency,” the BJP stated.

In the complaint, the party has demanded that strict legal action be taken under relevant sections against the organisers of the event and the individual who made the abusive remarks. They have also called for cases to be registered under the harshest provisions of law against all leaders who were present on the stage during the rally.

A large number of BJP office-bearers and senior women leaders were present during the filing of the complaint, including state spokespersons Kamlesh Raman and Sushma, along with Hema Parihar, Lata Semwal, Sunita Tamang, Kamlesh, Tanuja Bisht, Asha Bisht, Rajkumari, Taslima, Mamta Maurya, Anita Bhatt, Ruchi Rawat, Bina Suyal, Roopa, Sangeeta, Deepa Kashyap, Rani, Asha Bisht, Sangeeta Devi, Anita Devi and Sita Devi. The party has demanded immediate and exemplary action to uphold the dignity of public discourse and ensure accountability for such acts.
