Ambala, 7 Jul: The North Zone IGU Golf Tournament, held at KEPTA Golf Course in Ambala on 5–6 July, saw an impressive display of talent despite the scorching heat and high humidity. With 110 young golfers from across North India vying for top honours, the event highlighted the emerging talent in junior golf—and Uttarakhand stood tall with three podium finishes.
In Category B Boys, Samriddh Chand Thakur delivered a dominant performance, carding back-to-back rounds of 5-over par on both days. His consistent play secured him the 1st position with a commanding 5-stroke lead, establishing himself as a force to watch on the junior circuit.

Meanwhile, in Category C Girls, Aradhaya Rawat claimed the top spot with composed rounds of 6-over and 5-over, respectively. Her calm and focused gameplay amidst tough conditions demonstrated exceptional promise.
In the junior-most Category F Boys, Snitik Chand Thakur showcased resilience and skill, bouncing back on Day 2 with a strong 8-over round to clinch the 2nd position. In the same event, Arzan Farooq stood 3rd in Category F Boys. Arzan studies in Bright Angels School, Vikasnagar, Dehradun.
The achievements of these junior golfers not only bring glory to Uttarakhand but also reflect the growing standard of junior golf training in the state.
