Dehradun, 5 Sep: The state government has claimed that Uttarakhand is setting new dimensions in terms of SGST (State Goods and Services Tax) collection. In the year 2024, till the month of August, total revenue collection of Rs 2,507 crores has been achieved by the State Tax Department, which is 14 percent more than the same period last year. Whereas, till the month of August last year, a total SGST collection of Rs 2,202 crores was done. Uttarakhand has been ranked fourth on the basis of average growth rate, if the total revenue collection done till August 2024 under Net SGST is compared with the revenue collection of other states.
The government has claimed that various departments have been trying earnestly to increase the revenue earnings of the state. Special attention is being paid to increasing revenue through SGST collection. The Finance Department claims that continuous action is being taken against tax evaders. Through schemes like ‘Bill Lao, Inam Pao’, the common consumer is not only being made aware about SGST, but it is also helping in curbing tax evasion by the traders.
At the same time, under Net SGST (SGSTIGST Settlement), the total revenue collection of the State Tax Department till August, 2024, is Rs 3,880 crores, which is 13 percent more than the total revenue collection of Rs 3444 crores during the same period last year. The national average growth rate of SGST collection till August 2024 has been 9 percent while the national average growth rate of Net SGST collection has been 11 percent.
