U’khand MLAs still spend less MLALAD funds

DEHRADUN, 7 Mar: In the year ending 31 December, 2017, most of the MLAs in Uttarakhand were unable to spend most of their Local Area Development fund. In the year ending, 31 December, 2018, they have been generally able to improve their performance with respect of spending their LAD funds but still majority were unable to spend even half of their funds meant for the year 2018.
According to the information received under Right to Information Act by RTI activist Nadeemuddin, based in Kashipur (Udham Singh Nagar), only 13 MLAs were able to spend over 90 percent of their LAD fund. Among these star performers are included Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, former minister and currently MLA KapkotBalwant Singh Bhauryal, MLA ChampawatKailashGehtodi and Lohaghat MLA Puran Singh Fartyal. The best performer for the year 2018 was Bhauryal who was able to spend 99 percent of the LAD allocated for the year 2018. Gehtodi was able to spend 98 percent along with Fartyal. Nominated MLA GI Greg Mann was also able to spend 97 percent of the LAD fund. CM Rawat was able to spend 94 percent of the LAD in his capacity as Doiwala MLA. First time MLA but much experienced Dharampur MLA VinodChamoli was able to spend 92 percent of his LAD fund. Chandan Ram Das of Bageshwar, a multiple time MLA was also able to spend about 96 percent of his LAD. Sahaspur MLA SahdevPundir, Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi, Dehradun Cantt MLA HarbansKapoor, Laksar MLA Sanjay Gupta and Landora MLA KunwarPranav Singh were also able to spend over 90 percent of their LAD funds.
On the other hand, 11 MLAs failed miserably this year to spend even half of their LAD funds. The worst performer was the first time MLA Manoj Rawat who was able to spend only 10 percent of the LAD fund allocated to him for the year 2018. Minister of State and a high profile BJP leader Dr Dhan Singh Rawat is MLA Srinagar and he was able to spend only 17 percent of his LAD in 2018. Dharchula MLA Harish Dhami was able to spend only 28 percent of his LAD in 2018. Leader of the Opposition and Haldwani MLA Indira Hridayesh could spend only 41 percent of the LAD in 2018 while PCC Chief and Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh was able to spend 43 percent as also former Speaker and Jageshwar MLA Govind Singh Kunjwal. Ramnagar MLA Diwan Singh Bist spent 47 percent of his LAD in 2018 along with Gangotri MLA Gopal Singh Rawat. Cabinet Minister Prakash Pant was also among those who failed to spend even half of their LAD in 2018. He spent 49 percent of the LAD along with Ranikhet MLA Karan Mahra and Dwarahat MLA Mahesh Negi. Others were able to spend more than half of their LAD funds.
