DEHRADUN, 25 Jul: Uttarakhand State Tax Department has registered a significant improvement in GST revenue collection in Uttarakhand, with net State GST (SGST) collection rising by 24 per cent during the April–June 2026 period compared to the corresponding period last year. Non-GST collection increased by 12 per cent, while the overall tax collection recorded a growth of 22 per cent.
The figures were shared during a departmental review meeting chaired by Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu on Saturday. The meeting reviewed the GST collection, tax compliance, departmental performance and the department’s future action plan in detail.
It was shared during the meeting that non-GST collection increased from Rs 658 crore during April–June 2025 to Rs 740 crore sduring the corresponding period in 2026, registering a growth of 12 per cent. During the same period, net SGST collection rose from Rs 2,457 crore to Rs 3,056 crore, reflecting an increase of 24 per cent. Overall tax collection also increased from Rs 3,115 crore to Rs 3,796 crore, registering a growth of 22 per cent.
The meeting also reviewed the performance of the Central Intelligence Unit (CIU). It was informed that the CIU had recovered Rs 12.92 crore during the 2025–26 financial year, while recoveries amounting to Rs 16.48 crore had already been made by June in the 2026–27 financial year, marking an increase of 27.6 per cent over the previous year.
At the meeting, Sudhanshu directed the officials to sustain the momentum in GST collection and further improve revenue performance in the coming months. He stressed the need to promote tax compliance and make better use of available data and technology to enhance the effectiveness of departmental functioning.
He also instructed the officials to ensure regular departmental reviews and close monitoring of performance. Emphasising taxpayer convenience, he directed that pending cases be disposed of within the stipulated time and that necessary measures be taken to further strengthen GST compliance.
The progress of the Special Investigation Branch (SIB), Mobile Squad and audit activities was also reviewed during the meeting. Sudhanshu instructed all the units concerned to achieve their targets within the prescribed timeframe while ensuring effective coordination among themselves.
The meeting also discussed GST compliance in various sectors, including hotel and restaurant services and works contracts, along with the department’s future action plan. Reiterating the need for continuous monitoring of departmental performance, Sudhanshu emphasised on further strengthening GST collection and compliance. Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, State Tax Commissioner Prateek Jain, Additional Secretary-cum-Additional Commissioner Mahamohan Mainali, Additional Secretary-cum-Additional Commissioner Anil Singh and other departmental officers were among those present at the meeting.
