Mussoorie, 1 Apr: Uttarakhand Kranti Dal Tehri Lok Sabha candidate Jai Prakash Upadhayay, along with other party leaders, started his election campaign in Mussoorie and urged people to vote for the UKD.
Speaking to Garhwal Post Jai Prakash Upadhayay and Latafat Hussain claimed that the national parties had been showing the people a picture that is hollow and fake. However, being a party that has presence in every village of the state, the UKD closely knew the main issues. Its manifesto, this time, would include the demand for a green bonus, better employment for the people and, most importantly, tackling migration. They would ensure necessary work at the ground level. Both national parties were two faces of the same coin and misleading the people. The national parties had no vision and were only interested in outdoing each other. One claimed it was the custodian of the country and the second was a custodian of thieves. These parties had forgotten the local issues of Uttarakhand such as water, forest and land.
They alleged that the BJP government was not doing any work on local issues. The issue of a permanent capital remained pending. The migration from hilly areas continued as there was no employment for the youth of the states. Both the national parties had ruled the state but were not interested in declaring Gairsain the capital of Uttarakhand. The UKD was committed to this. The movement would continue till the demand is conceded.
They also alleged that people were capturing government land in cahoots with the BJP. Upadhyay said that the ideology of the state of Uttarakhand was different. The people of the state did not lock their houses and did not need a watchman. Present on the occasion were BD Raturi, Bahadur Singh Rawat, Sunil Dhyani and others.
