Dehradun, 19 Jun: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi felicitated Saraswati Bhandari, Manager of the Indian Women’s Floorball Team, and Sangeeta Rathi, the Team Captain, for their outstanding contributions in representing India on the international stage.
From 18 to 25 April 2025, the Women’s Floorball Championship witnessed participation from countries including India, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand. Representing India, Saraswati Bhandari served as the Manager while Sangeeta Rathi led the team as Captain.
Both players met Minister Ganesh Joshi, today, who honoured them for their achievements. The Minister proudly shared that in the World Floorball Championship 2025, Saraswati Bhandari and Sangeeta Rathi represented India in their respective roles. Notably, Sangeeta Rathi was awarded the title of Best Player of India, and she made history by scoring India’s first-ever goal in the championship.
Their previous achievements include: In 2020, the Indian Women’s Team won the First World Virtual Freestyle Floorball Cup. In 2018, Sangeeta Rathi captained the Indian team in the Asia-Oceania Floorball Confederation Championship, where she was awarded as Best Player. In the same 2018 championship, Saraswati Bhandari represented India as the First Goalkeeper, winning the Best Goalkeeper Award, and India secured the 8th rank in Asia.
Currently, both athletes are actively working in Delhi for the promotion and development of sports in India.
Minister Ganesh Joshi congratulated them for their remarkable achievements and assured them of his full support in their future endeavours.
