Dehradun, 26 Dec: On the occasion of Veer Bal Divas, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) stated that today is a day to remember the sacrifice, valor, and courage of the young Sahibzadas, who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their faith, culture, and nation. He emphasized that the young Sahibzadas, by not yielding to the tyrants, carried forward the great tradition of Sikhism, which teaches to never bow before unjust rulers. He mentioned that this day sends a message that true courage and sacrifice have no age limit.
During the Veer Bal Divas event at Raj Bhawan, the Governor paid tribute to the young Sahibzadas and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the decision to observe the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s brave sons as Veer Bal Divas. He said that the work done by the honorable Prime Minister to immortalize the sacrifices of these warriors will always be remembered.
The Governor further stated that Veer Bal Divas is not only a symbol of valor and sacrifice, but also provides an opportunity to understand the glory of our past and inspire future generations. This day symbolizes the resolve to protect Indian heritage at all costs.
At the event, students from Gurmat Sangeet Vidyalaya, Rishikesh, presented a musical performance titled “Gatha-e-Balidan,” which emotionally conveyed the immortal story of the Sahibzadas’ sacrifice.
On the occasion of Veer Bal Divas, the Governor also launched the book “Char Sahibzade,” published by Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, edited by Dr. Parmvir Singh and Dr. Kulvinder Singh. Additionally, the book “Sahibzade: Pioneers of Tradition,” published by the Sanskrit University and edited by Dr Ajay Parmar, was launched. Both books are based on the sacrifice, valor, and courage of Guru Gobind Singh’s Sahibzadas.
As a special initiative, the Governor unveiled the “Eternal Guru” AI chatbot, which is based on Gurbani and capable of disseminating the spiritual guidance and teachings of Shri Guru Granth Sahib through technology. The chatbot was developed by Uttarakhand Technical University in collaboration with Hemkund Sahib Management Trust.
During the event, Narendra Jeet Singh Bindra, President of Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, shared his thoughts on the significance of this day while Dr Kulvinder Singh, Assistant Professor at Punjabi University, Patiala, delivered a lecture on “Ek Onkar – The Message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji,” highlighting the values of humanity, brotherhood, and spirituality.
