Dehradun, 16 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the martyr’s memorial on the occasion of Vijay Diwas at Gandhi Park, here today. On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, the Chief Minister also honoured ex-soldiers by covering them with shawls and giving mementos. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that the construction work of Shaheed Dwar/memorials in the state would now be done through the Sainik Welfare Department while earlier it was done through the Culture Department. He added that soldiers and brave women decorated with Veerta Chakra series would be allowed free travel in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses.
Describing Vijay Diwas as the day of indomitable courage, bravery and bravery of the brave soldiers of the Indian Army, Chief Minister Dhami said that on this day in 1971, more than 93,000 soldiers of Pakistan had surrendered before the brave soldiers of India. This great war was a great example of the unwavering determination and sacrifice of the heroes of India, which was the biggest self-sacrifice of any army after the Second World War. He said that the land of Uttarakhand, being the land of gods, was also the land of valour and sacrifice. In the Indo-Pak war of 1971, 255 soldiers of Uttarakhand had sacrificed their lives to protect Mother India. The country itself was honoured by awarding various gallantry medals to 74 soldiers of the state who had demonstrated indomitable courage and bravery in the war. The immortal stories of the sacrifice of all such heroes continued to inspire the youth even today.
Dhami said that according to the guidance of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the construction of a grand ‘ Military Dham’ had begun in Dehradun and that it would be the fifth Dham in the state. This memorial was a humble tribute to all those heroes who laid down their lives for the glory of the tricolour and for the protection of the nation, regardless of their lives. This military Dham would serve as a divine inspiration for nation worship for many generations to come.
The Chief Minister said that every possible facility was being provided to the army under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The soldiers were now equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and world-class equipment was being provided for their assistance and protection.
Sainik Kalyan Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the soldiers of the army were sitting on the frontiers to protect the country in every situation, he said that in the Indo-Pak war of 1971, many soldiers of the state of Uttarakhand had sacrificed their lives for the protection of Mother India. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government was working sincerely for the welfare of the soldiers. The long-standing demand of One Rank One Pension was fulfilled only under the leadership of Modi. The state government was working to build a huge military shrine in honour of the martyrs. Along with this, the state government had decided that the main gate of the military dham will be named after the brave son of Uttarakhand and the country’s first CDS General Bipin Rawat.
