DEHRADUN, 27 Dec: Swami Rama Himalayan University’s President, Dr Vijay Dhasmana, has expressed grief over the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
He stated that Dr Singh played a pivotal role in accelerating the country’s economy. In 1991, as the Finance Minister, he laid the foundation of economic liberalization in India, which significantly strengthened the nation’s economy on a global level. In 2018, he attended the Mahasamadhi Day event of HIHT founder Gurudev Dr Swami Rama as the chief guest.
Dr Dhasmana shared personal memories associated with the late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He recalled Dr Singh’s support during the construction of the campus in Jolly Grant.
He mentioned that Dr Singh visited the Jolly Grant campus twice.
In 1994, during his tenure as the Finance Minister of India, Dr Singh inaugurated the Himalayan Hospital building in Jolly Grant as the chief guest, following an invitation from Gurudev Dr Swami Rama.
Even after this, Dr Singh continued to support the institution’s development initiatives.
In 2018, he again attended the Mahasamadhi Day event of Dr Swami Rama as the chief guest, where he paid tribute in front of Gurudev’s portrait.
Dr Manmohan Singh’s contributions to India’s progress will always be remembered.
