Villagers investigate reasons behind pollution in Rispana River

Mussoorie, 27 May: There have been continuous complaints about the sewage and filth being dumped in the source of the Rispana River. SDM, Mussoorie, Dr Deepak Saini has sent an inquiry to the officials of Jal Nigam, Garhwal Jal Sansthan and Municipal Council in this regard. The officials of these departments have not yet been able to detect the source of the sewage and filth.

Following this, after which the villagers of the area took the initiative to clean the source of the river. They have launched a campaign to find out the source of the sewage. The area abouve Mausi Falls was inspected by several youths under the leadership of local resident Amit Panwar. During the inspection, they saw that the filth and smelly poisonous water was coming out from the MRF Centre built by the Mussoorie Municipal Council near IDH Building on Tehri Bypass Road. Similar water is discharged from Wynberg Allen Junior School. Dirty water from the sewage treatment plant of Mussoorie Jal Nigam is being released into the origin of the Rispana River. He said that neither the government nor the administration are paying attention. He has demanded that this should be stopped. He warned that, if this is not done, he will be forced to launch a protest movement.
