“Wanderings in the Land of Mist, The Complete Story of Mussoorie” released in Mussoorie

Mussoorie, 19 Sep: The book, “Wanderings in the Land of Mist, The Complete Story of Mussoorie”, written by author Anmol Jain based on stories of 200 years of Mussoorie, was released at a programme organised in the auditorium of a hotel here.

The Chief Guest was well-known filmmaker and writer Victor Banerjee. Renowned writers Bill Aitkin, Ganesh Saili, Stephen Alter, and retired Director General of Police Anil Raturi were the Special Guests. Many stories based on 200 years of Mussoorie have been preserved by writer Anmol Jain as part of five years of hard work, which he dedicated to the readers today.

Anmol Jain said that he is a journalist as well as a writer and he had collected many stories related to Mussoorie through various mediums and presented them in his book. He said that there are many stories about Mussoorie that are impossible to cover in one book, but his attempt has been to tell the readers about the history of Mussoorie with some interesting incidents. Dedicating his book to his grandfather and father, he said that he got inspiration to write the book after listening to the true stories of Mussoorie from them in his childhood.

Anmol said that, in the book, QR codes of about 48 tourist places were available for the tourists coming to Mussoorie from India and abroad. By scanning these on the mobile, tourists can reach their destinations. He said that extensive research was done before writing the book. Many mysteries of Mussoorie were unveiled.

Victor Banerjee said that Anmol Jain had recounted many historical events. He said that the book would be beneficial for those doing research on Mussoorie. Authors Bill Aitkin, Stephen Alter and Ganesh Saili read several excerpts from the book. Retired DGP Anil Raturi, who is also an author, said that writing a book is a very difficult task. He said that the book would promote tourism here.

Former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, Municipal President Anuj Gupta, former Municipal President Manmohan Singh Mall, historian Jaiprakash Uttarakhandi, ITBP Academy Director PS Dangwal, Mussoorie Hotel Association President Sanjay Aggarwal and others were present at the event.
