Dehradun, 1 Dec: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on Winter Tourism is central to realising the vision of a ‘Viksit Uttarakhand’.
Addressing media persons at the BJP State Headquarters here today, the party’s state general secretary Deepti Rawat described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a natural ambassador for Devbhoomi. Responding to remarks by Congress State President Ganesh Godiyal, she termed the attempt to link the PM’s encouragement of Winter Tourism with political motives as absurd and added that the state has been progressing in this sector for past few years under Modi’s guidance.
Addressing the media at the party’s state headquarters, Rawat said this month’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ was heard with public participation across nearly all of the state’s 12,500 booths, noting that the PM had praised Uttarakhand’s efforts in promoting Winter Tourism. She said the detailed discussion had boosted the public morale and provided fresh direction for developing the sector as a major driver of economic growth.
Rawat also mentioned the successful Winter Char Dham Yatra and the Ultra Marathon at Adi Kailash, where participants from 22 states took part at high altitude. She attributed these achievements to the Prime Minister’s inspiration. She stated that tourist numbers in the region had risen from 2,000 to over 30,000 following Modi’s visits, and that more than 23 crore pilgrims had visited the state in recent years.
Praising the Dhami government’s work in the tourism sector, Deepti Rawat claimed that these initiatives such as promoting Uttarakhand as a wedding destination were gaining popularity with increasing numbers choosing the mountains and riverbanks for ceremonies. She asserted that the state, guided by the PM’s vision, was well on its way to becoming India’s most preferred wedding destination.
