Women’s Sports College in Lohaghat will provide international level facilities: Dhami

Lohaghat (Champawat), 27 Feb: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today conducted a site inspection of the State’s first Women’s Sports College being constructed at Chhamaniya in the Lohaghat area of Champawat district at a cost of Rs 256 crores. During the inspection, the CM undertook a detailed review of the progress of construction works and directed the executing agency and departmental officials to ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timeframe and in accordance with high quality standards.

While reviewing the project, Dhami also examined the ongoing development of the football ground, astro-turf hockey ground, volleyball court, basketball court and synthetic athletics track, along with other sports facilities being developed on the campus. He further took stock of the construction of a hostel with a capacity of 300 girl students, staff quarters, administrative building, academic block, multipurpose hall, the auditorium and the guest house being built for the institution.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the CM stated that the Women’s Sports College being established in Lohaghat would provide international-level sports infrastructure to the girls and women of the state. He said that all the sports facilities being developed at the campus would conform to international standards and would enable the women athletes of Uttarakhand to perform excellently in national and international competitions and bring laurels to the State. He further stated that the institution would offer an integrated arrangement for training, education and accommodation, thereby providing a strong platform particularly to talented girls from rural and mountainous regions to advance in the field of sports.

Union Minister of State and Member of Parliament Ajay Tamta, along with other public representatives and officials, were present on the occasion.
