Workshop held on Administration of Criminal Justice

DEHRADUN, 29 Sep: A one day workshop was held here today on administration of criminal justice which was inaugurated by Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court, Justice Ramesh Ranganathan. The workshop was organised by the Uttarakhand Judicial and Legal Authority, Bhawali and Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority at MN Ghosh Auditorium here today Inaugurating the workshop, the Chief Justice dwelt upon the importance of administration of criminal justice. Others present on the occasion included High Court judges Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia, Justice Alok Singh, Justice Lokpal Singh, Justice UC Dhyani and Director of Uttarakhand Judicial and Legal Academy, Dr GK Sharma. Speakers dwelt on the role of the police and of the judges in delivering criminal justice and also discussed on finer aspects of various laws related to criminal justice. Justice Ranganathan also stressed on raising the number of posts of the judges and judicial magistrates as well of police officials and the filling up of all the posts to make it possible to deliver the justice in time. He also called upon the judges to deal with the cases in timely manner and reducing the number of pending cases.
