Job fair held at Polytechnic in Doon, 81 companies interview 1,285 candidates

Dehradun, 2 Apr: A grand job fair was organised at the Government Polytechnic Institute, Pithuwala, here today under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Department of Technical Education. The event was inaugurated by Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, while the programme was presided over by Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli. On this occasion, Technical Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat joined virtually, extending his best wishes to the students and congratulating departmental officials for the successful organisation.

The job fair witnessed participation from 81 reputed industrial establishments and companies. Nearly 1,600 polytechnic students registered for employment opportunities, out of which 1,285 candidates appeared for interviews with various companies. Addressing the students, Subodh Uniyal emphasised that technological advancement is essential for the progress and empowerment of any nation. He noted that the present era belongs to artificial intelligence, data analytics, software development and robotics engineering and called upon the youth to continuously upgrade themselves in line with evolving technologies. He congratulated the selected candidates and urged them to work with dedication, honesty and commitment in their respective fields.

Uniyal also praised the efforts of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in strengthening technical education in the state. He observed that the polytechnic institutions in the state are being equipped with modern resources, advanced laboratories and improved academic facilities. He encouraged the youth by stating that today there are vast opportunities not only in government jobs but also in the private sector and self-employment, where talent finds avenues for growth.

Presiding over the programme, MLA Vinod Chamoli observed that the job fairs being held from time to time are providing skilled youth with easy access to employment opportunities. He claimed that the government is making efforts to provide overseas employment through UPNL and is running various schemes aimed at eradicating unemployment. He appealed to the youth to make the most of these opportunities.

On the occasion, Director, Technical Education, Deshraj, welcomed the guests and informed that in job fairs held last year, 71 per cent of students secured campus placements. He stated that the department’s goal is to ensure 100 per cent placement and added that this year’s fair, with the participation of prestigious companies from across the country, is offering wide-ranging opportunities to the youth.

Among those present on the occasion were Joint Secretary Vikram Yadav, Deputy Secretary Byomkeshan Dubey, Section Officer Chandra Shekhar Upadhyay, Secretary of Uttarakhand Technical Education Council Mukesh Pandey, Joint Director Devendra Giri, Deputy Directors MK Kanyal and SK Verma, Principal of the institute Avneesh Jain, other officials of the Technical Education Department, principals of various polytechnic institutions, representatives of industrial establishments and a large number of students.
