Dehradun, 22 Sep: Anger is spreading among the youth of Uttarakhand after reports of a paper leak in the recent graduate-level recruitment exam. The exam was held on Sunday, but some question papers surfaced within minutes of the test beginning. This has raised serious questions about the fairness of the examination.
After the controversy, SSP Ajai Singh and UKSSSC Chairman GS Martolia held a press conference. They said the exam was conducted honestly and with full transparency.
However, on Monday, hundreds of unemployed youths gathered at the Parade Ground, here, under the banner of the Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh. They shouted slogans like “Paper Chor Gaddi Chhod” against the government and demanded a CBI investigation into the leak.
The youths had earlier planned to march to the Secretariat. However, the union leaders later appealed to them to hold a peaceful and democratic protest near Parade Ground itself.
Bobby Panwar, former state president of the Berozgar Sangh, strongly criticised the administration. He said that by imposing Section 163, the government was trying to scare the youth. He called it an attempt to strangle democracy and silence the issues of unemployed candidates.
Panwar also alleged that the exam paper was leaked even before 11 a.m. He claimed that at 10 a.m., two people were seen solving the paper behind the wall of an exam centre. He added that there is an eyewitness to this. He accused some officials and white-collar people of working together with the cheating mafia.
Meanwhile, police increased security in Dehradun city and imposed Section 163 to stop the protestors from moving forward. Because of this, the planned march to the Secretariat did not happen. The unemployed youths instead sat on a protest near Parade Ground.
